Colombian–Venezuelan border: An overlooked environmental crisis and its links with armed violence

The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung in Colombia and the International Crisis Group invite you to the panel: Colombian–Venezuelan border: An overlooked environmental crisis and its links with armed violence as part of the 2022 Stockholm Forum on Peace and Development.

The links between violent conflict and environmental damage in Colombia have remained invisible during five decades of war. After the signing of the Peace Agreement in 2016, the Jurisdicción Especial para la Paz - JEP (Special Jurisdiction for Peace) has stated that nature was a silent victim of Colombia's internal armed conflict.

After five years, it continues to be so. The Catatumbo region on Colombia's border with Venezuela is an example of this.

The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung in Colombia and the International Crisis Group invite you to the panel: Colombian–Venezuelan border: An overlooked environmental crisis and its links with armed violence as part of the 2022 Stockholm Forum on Peace and Development.

The panel will be held next Tuesday, May 24th, 2022, from 10:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Colombia) | 11.45 a.m. to 13.00 p.m. (Venezuela) |  17.45 to 19.00 p.m. (Sweden).
