Durante el 6 y 7 de mayo acompañamos a la CUT en el VI Congreso de Mujer Trabajadora y en el III Congreso de jóvenes trabajadores previos al VII Congreso de Delegados de la Central.
La Central Unitaria de Trabajadores de Colombia (CUT) realizó durante el 6 y 7 de mayo el VI Congreso de Mujer Trabajadora y el III Congreso de jóvenes trabajadores previos al VII Congreso de Delegados de la Central. La CUT tiene a nivel nacional más de 650.000 afiliados y se define como una Central pluralista y democrática.
Sin sindicatos no hay democracia posible y la libertad sindical es indispensable para el desarrollo de los países, eso lo demuestran las cifras mundiales en donde a mayor nivel de sindicalización mayor desarrollo y mayor igualdad. Sin embargo los sindicatos tienen el desafío de transformarse para seguir asumiendo la defensa de los derechos laborales, la lucha por la igualdad y por la justicia social y en ese camino de transformación, de mayor democratización y de incorporación de nuevas agendas y prácticas es indispensable promover mayor participación de mujeres y jóvenes en las estructuras directivas.
Más de 800 delegados y delegadas de todo el país entre mujeres y jóvenes debatieron sus puntos de vista alrededor de importantes temas de coyuntura nacional y trazaron estrategías de acción, proceso que fue apoyado y acompañado por la Friedrich Ebert Stiftung en Colombia –Fescol- y la Escuela Nacional Sindical, además de otras organizaciones comprometidas con el fortalecimiento de las organizaciones de trabajadores.
La presencia de Cathy Feingold, Presidenta Adjunto de la CSI y Amanda Villatoro, Secretaria de Política Sindical y Educación de la Confederación Sindical de trabajadores y trabajadoras de las Américas fue trascendental para mostrar la posición internacional de defensa por buscar estrategias para que las mujeres participen de forma efectiva en los sindicatos. Igualmente, Juneia Batista, Secretaria de la Muer de la CUT Brasil compartió el camino recorrido en su Central para llegar a la paridad.
